Shopping Channel Super Offer (joke)

Ever Wondered Why Selling Feels Off? Let’s Rethink It Together

Oct 23, 2024

Look, maybe you’re like me. Maybe you really want to understand what’s happening on a deeper level when things feel off. I’ve always been the type to dig into things, not just on the surface but to really get to the core.

One area that often feels the most intimidating is the sales game. Take the old-school shopping channel - the epitome of pre-internet selling tactics - loud and relentless, and usually, it was so bad it was almost good again:

That old mindset still lingers in part: it’s: It’s tied to results, outcomes, and—let’s be honest—if you don’t sell, it feels like a direct reflection of your worth.

In the service industry, it can become a question of, “What does this say about me?” And that’s a tough place to be in. But here’s the thing: it doesn’t mean anything about you. It’s just a sign that we’ve all been conditioned to believe certain things about selling, and those beliefs are usually off.

We’ve been conditioned to think of selling like a job interview. You put on your best face, present everything you’ve got, and then someone else decides if it’s enough. It’s judgmental, one-sided, and honestly, outdated. We see it everywhere, from how we’ve been taught to get a job to how we see people marketing online. People shout about their offers, use false scarcity tactics, put out “limited-time deals,” and try to convince others to buy. But this approach isn’t about genuine connection or partnership—it’s about pushing.

♡➰♡

No one wants that.

What I’ve learned—through diving into Dan Sullivan’s ideas, especially from his work “10X Is Easier Than 2X”—is that growth and sales don’t have to be this forced thing. It doesn’t have to be intimidating or scary. It’s not about piling up more value or pushing more offers. Instead, it’s about looking at sales as a dynamic partnership where growth happens for both you and the client. It’s about flexibility, understanding, and creating something that evolves as you do.

♡➰♡

Think of sales not as an exchange where you need to convince someone but as an agreement. When you present your offer, it’s about seeing if there’s a mutual match. Both sides come to the table, and you agree on how to move forward together.

If you’ve felt that disconnect when selling, maybe it’s time to shift how you see the whole process. Dive into what feels authentic, and start creating from that space.
